A huge thanks and congratulations to SCOTT DEAN for being the highest bidder!

Scott Dean was the winner on the Ron and Don show of a private table for 4 on Seattle’s Lake Union 4th of July firework show at Chandler’s Crabhouse.  Chandler’s graciously donated the table – complete with a 4 course meal and wine from Chateau St. Michelle Winery of Woodinville.  All of Scott’s winning bid will go towards a childcare scholarship for Vanessa Walsh, the wife of Officer Brian Walsh who died while on Duty this spring.

Thanks to Ron and Don of Seattle’s KIRO 97.3 FM!

Ron and Don from Seattle’s KIRO 97.3 FM brought in Jason and Allison from Project Parachute to discuss the challenges that single parents face regarding childcare.  A local woman lost her husband, a police officer, this spring to a heart attack.  A friend wrote to the radio hosts explaining the story and how much help the newly single parent needs as she has a brand new baby and must return to work this fall to support her family.  Huge suporters of police and firefighters, Ron and Don reached out to Project Parachute to raise money for this family, and to shed light on what Project Parachute does.  We can’t thank you enough!

New Seattle Chute Group Facilitated by PEPS

PEPS (Program for Early Parenting Support) is an organization established in Seattle in 1982 providing support groups to new parents.  Their successful model was what inspired Project Parachute’s “Chute Group” model.  Project Parachute is happy to announce that our very own Allison Norris will be leading a single parent supplemental group through PEPS in the Seattle area.  For more information on PEPS, or this group, please click here.

For information on how to start a Chute Group in your area, please email us on the “about page”.

CBS’ Undercover Boss and Single Parents

Undercover Boss on CBS has brought a little light to the needs of single parents, paying special attention to childcare.  Project Parachute is thrilled to see that this issue is being acknowledged on a network, and by CEOs of such large and important companies.

Please click here to view the episode following Joel Manby, President and CEO of Herschend Family Entertainment originally aired on 03/28/10.

We need your help!

If you are interested in volunteering, we need your help.

Project Parachute is looking for facts about single parents.  So that we can have the most comprehensive list of facts about single parents, we are calling in the “chute troops” to help gather more.

Please send us facts that you find, with sources (ie, website information, titles and authors, names of magazines, etc) via email or through the mail.  Visit the “about page” to send us an email.

Here are some sample questions:

How many single parents are there in America?  What is the average monthly income?  What is the average number of children that a single parent has?  How much does a single parent spend on childcare in one month?  What government programs currently exist to help single parents?

Information now available for Chute Groups in your area

Please send us a message through our email space on the “apply” page for more information.
